Man dies after being shot in Algiers | NOLA.com

A man has died after being shot Sunday night in Algiers, according to NOPD. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. in the 500 block of Socrates Street.

The victim was standing in the street and suffered a gunshot wound to the hip. He died later, police said on Monday.

The shooting in Algiers was one of two slayings Sunday. In the other deadly shooting, a 30-year-old man was slain in the parking lot of the London Lodge Motel in the 9300 block of Airline Highway in Hollygrove about 5:30 p.m. There had not been a murder in New Orleans since Oct. 23.
