Travel with yourself to a healthier you

While it's lovely to travel with family, friends or a significant other, occasionally we need a little Me Time. A solo getaway can be planned, for instance, to kick start a healthier regime, to get up close to nature, for rest and relaxation, to learn how to eat and cook more nutritiously, or to simply take "time out" to reconnect with Self.

Here are five wellness-themed destinations Anne Dimon has personally visited:

Desert destination

Red mountain Resort and SpaRed mountain Resort and SpaRed Mountain Resort & Spa in Utah's Mojave Desert offers it all - from spa, to food, daily fitness classes, wellness sessions and fabulous hiking for all levels of fitness. For guests travelling solo, there's also a communal table sometimes hosted by one of the on-staff wellness professionals.

For more information, visit Red Mountain Resort & Spa or join their communities on Facebook and Twitter. (Please note, you must be in the US to view their Facebook page).

Arts community

Oaks at OjaiOaks at OjaiOpened in 1979 and one of the original health and wellness spas, The Oaks at Ojai in Ojai, California is housed in a Spanish Mission-inspired building that is a reflection of this unique town, about a 90-minute drive from Los Angeles. There's a community feel here and solos will find they are in good company.
